IOLTA Trust Account Bookkeeping & Compliance

Trust accounting that reconciles — every account, every month, without exception.

Your firm's IOLTA account carries a different kind of risk than your operating account. An error here isn't just a bookkeeping mistake — it's a potential bar complaint, and in some states, a reportable event. Trust account compliance requires a level of precision that general bookkeeping doesn't, and it's the specialty my practice is built around.

What I handle:

  • Monthly three-way reconciliation (bank balance, book balance, and client ledger balances)
  • Clear documentation you can hand to your bar's auditor without a scramble
  • Trust account bookkeeping aligned with your state bar's specific requirements
  • Client ledger accuracy and individual balance tracking

Why three-way reconciliation matters

A two-way reconciliation — bank statement to book balance — can look clean and still hide a problem. Three-way reconciliation checks that bank balance, book balance, and the sum of every individual client ledger all agree. That third check is where most trust accounting errors actually surface, and it's the standard most state bars require, whether or not it's the standard your current bookkeeper is actually using.

How this pairs with your bookkeeping

IOLTA Three-Way Reconciliation is available as an add-on service alongside any monthly bookkeeping tier (Foundation Books, Growth Books, or Financial Clarity), or on its own if your firm's operating books are handled elsewhere. Pricing is quoted based on trust account volume and complexity.

We'll go over your current reconciliation process, where the gaps are, and what compliant trust accounting looks like for your firm.
